Highlights of the day

1. Morning: Morning coffee chat (9:30 AM - 11:00 AM)

A weekend energy boost and the start of new encounters.

Members with different goals gathered in the morning, some wanting to start their weekend actively, others wanting to focus on and organize their accumulated tasks. With coffee in hand, they began to socialize at a relaxed pace.

On this day, an engineer from Ethiopia participated in the meetup for the first time! After the meetup, he continued to use S-Tokyo's coworking space and worked comfortably all day. The ability to use the space for morning networking and then immediately as a workspace is a unique feature of S-Tokyo.

2. Daytime: Local Pitch & Knowledge Sharing Session (11:30 AM - 6:00 PM)

Seven regions across Japan come together! Connecting with other regions and gaining real-world insights from Bali.

The daytime "Local Pitch" event attracted participants from as many as seven different regions across Japan! This year's pitch was not only a way to promote local areas to digital nomads, but also a great success as a platform for local players to learn from and connect with each other. Participants shared their initiatives and challenges in their respective regions, and there was a lively exchange of ideas on how they could collaborate with one another.

In addition, as a special session, Haren, who has served as community manager for several coworking spaces in Bali, Indonesia, took the stage. She gave a presentation on "the reality of accepting nomads and building communities" in Bali, a global mecca for digital nomads, which proved to be a very insightful time for the local participants.

3. Evening: Night Meetup & 3-Minute Short Pitches (19:00-21:00)

Over 40 people from Japan and abroad participated! A lively evening of networking!

The evening meetup, which concluded the day, was a special event for Digital Nomad Day and was a huge success with over 20 participants from across Japan and over 20 from overseas!

At the venue, each region gave a "3-minute short pitch." Despite the short time, the passionate presentations directly conveyed the charm of each region, daily life, and living environment to the digital nomads. After the pitches, conversations transcending nationality and region continued late into the night with drinks in hand, and the entire venue was filled with excitement.

summary

This meetup, which we've been holding monthly since February 2024, was a truly valuable event this time around as a special Digital Nomad Day, where nomads, local communities, and "communities with communities" intersected in a multi-layered way.

S-Tokyo will continue to foster a warm community as a hub for digital nomads coming to Tokyo and as a base connecting Japanese local culture to the world. Thank you so much to everyone who participated!

[Next Announcement] Meetups will be held every Thursday from September to November, and we are looking for co-hosting partners!

We have good news for those who couldn't attend the event on August 8th, or for those who want to deepen their connections!

From September to November 2026, we will be hosting "Digital Nomads Japan Meetup ~Glocal Thursdays in Tokyo~ (a meetup every Thursday connecting local and global nomads)," holding a digital nomad meetup every Thursday at S-Tokyo in Tokyo.

During the event, players from each region can act as "one-day managers" at meetups, hosting events or giving local pitches. Why not bring your region directly to the digital nomads from around the world who gather in Tokyo?

We welcome applications from interested local players and businesses!
