"ARCH-ive"

Reading: Archive

This S-TOKYO art project aims to record and accumulate the vibrancy created through art by collaborating with artists and holding gallery exhibitions.

The capitalized "ARCH" comes from the place name Nihonbashi, the image of a bridge to realize S-TOKYO's vision of "crossing boundaries and co-creation," and a bridge to connect with the next generation of artists. The project "ARCH-ive" was born to bring together people and artists who possess this "bridge-building quality" (suffix ive).

S-TOKYO is a co-working space primarily targeting "digital nomads"—travelers who work freely using IT technology, unbound by location. We aim to create a comfortable community space that offers them new encounters and inspiration. They truly act as bridges, transcending national borders, cultural spheres, and language barriers.

We hope that this project will create many connections (bridges) to worlds yet to be seen.

We are seeking artists who agree with this project concept and would like to hold a solo exhibition.

If you know any artists who might be interested, please feel free to contact us!

*Please note that we may have to decline applications if we receive a large number of submissions.

Event Overview

  1. Up-and-coming artists active throughout Japan and around the world will hold solo exhibitions at a gallery in Nihonbashi, Tokyo.

  2. Frequency: once a month, or every 1-2 weeks.

  3. Users of coworking spaces have the opportunity to encounter new art every month and feel a connection with artists.

Regarding the holding of the solo exhibition

  • Gallery usage fee: 5,500 yen/day (tax included), special price for this project only. Payment method: Cashless only.

  • Maximum usage period: 15 days (including setup and dismantling days)

  • Venue: S-TOKYO 2nd Floor https://maps.app.goo.gl/95P344mG5m4zH3kp8

  • There is no usage fee on Sundays. The assumption is that Sundays will be used primarily for setup and dismantling (staff will not be available on Sundays).

  • The gallery's opening hours are 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (please contact us if you require hours beyond 6:00 PM).

Precautions

  • Artwork cannot be sold inside the museum. Artists are responsible for directing customers to their own online stores or taking orders through those stores. S-TOKYO does not charge any sales commission.

  • We regretfully must decline any events whose primary purpose is the sale of items other than artwork, as they do not align with our concept.

  • Group exhibitions are not permitted. Exhibitions with up to two artists are allowed.

  • As the gallery is a shared space within the building , events involving food and drinks may be held there during solo exhibitions. It may also be used as a rest area for coworking users outside of regular business hours.

  • We cannot be held responsible for any damage or soiling.

  • S-TOKYO will be curating and disseminating information to coworking users as part of a project called "ARCH-ive," but artists are free to decide on the title of their solo exhibition and handle their own audience attraction.

  • If you charge an admission fee or similar charge for your solo exhibition, please manage it yourself. S-TOKYO staff cannot assist with the management of money or sales.
