On Saturday, May 10th, I participated in the Kanda Festival with S-TOKYO community members! I carried the portable shrine in Kodemmacho!

The Kanda Festival is one of the three major festivals of Edo (old Tokyo). Apparently, the portable shrines only come out once every two years, so on this day, the area in front of the small shrine was overflowing with people and bustling with activity.

The residents of Kodemmacho welcomed us, even though it was our first time participating, with great kindness. It's a truly precious experience to be able to participate in such a traditional community in a major city like Tokyo. We even borrowed and wore the same traditional happi coats as the residents, and it made us feel like we were truly part of the community, which made us very happy!
