"ARCHive" is a gallery project by S-TOKYO.
S-TOKYO, which has "crossing boundaries and co-creation" as its vision, presents an exhibition series created in collaboration with artists and creators from Nihonbashi. This time, we will be exhibiting "Gaze Correspondence," a collaborative work by S-TOKYO's community curator Chichi and Kobe-based creator Keema, as well as "Happy News," a small exhibition of works by comic_keema themed around letters.
Message from the author
Two people living different lives exchanged their "gazes" through letters.
Chichi lives and works in the city, while Keema is a creator who lives with her child.
The encounter was purely by chance—she was a Japanese woman of the same generation who came into contact with him as a hotel employee and he was a guest (staying at the hotel).
The correspondence that began from there has been displayed at S-TOKYO, with one exchange per month throughout 2025.
Though their lives, work styles, seasons, and family structures are all different, their perspectives gently intersect only through letters.
There are no dramatic events in these dozens of letters. Instead, they are simply a time spent putting one's own life into words and imagining the other person's life.
Even the most ordinary days can become a drama for someone.
To me, someone else's everyday life is like a movie.
This exhibition preserves the reality that arises from such "ordinary life."
To conclude 2025, we will be holding a small exhibition to recap the year.
I hope that reading these letters will provide a moment where the distance between someone else's life and your own quietly melts away.
Simultaneously, we will also be holding "Good News," an exhibition of short works by comic_keema themed around letters.
These works are inspired by fragments of words in letters, the blank spaces on envelopes, and the "time spent thinking about someone" that resides within them.
Letters to read, letters to see. Writing, and drawing. Correspondence and small works resonate within the space.
The event will be held in December.
This is the season when we reflect on the events of the past year and want to send greetings to people we haven't seen in a while.
I hope this exhibition will inspire you to take some time to think about someone else.
