The SAVE THE INDIGO PROJECT POPUP event was held on April 18-19 at the S-TOKYO 2nd floor gallery & lounge!

The SAVE THE INDIGO PROJECT pieces are made from Japanese antique indigo textiles archived from Niho, a historic artisan shop located in Noto City, which was devastated by the major earthquake in January 2024. Under the hands of Kanazawa tailor/seamstress Masashi Momoyama, 100-year-old indigo-dyed fabrics were reborn as new fashion items. It's a wonderful project that carries on the spirit of craftsmanship and creates new value for the world. Visitors seemed to deeply appreciate the value of the items as they held them in their hands and listened to Mr. Momoyama's explanations.

Traditional Japanese indigo-dyed antique fabrics, a culmination of traditional Japanese techniques, are being reused in a modern cycle and transformed into entirely new products by seamstresses in Kanazawa.
