[S-TOKYO Neighborhood Community Introduction] Roonee247finearts

#ValveHub

Hi, I'm Yuka, a community curator at S-TOKYO.

Nihonbashi Kodemmacho , where S-TOKYO is located , has so many charms that it's impossible to describe them all!

To share this wonderful neighborhood with those interested in S-TOKYO, we interviewed local residents.

We'll be introducing it in several articles, so please look forward to it!

This time, we interviewed Mr. Sugimori from Roonee247finearts!

-Please tell us about the store's history and concept.

Rooney opened in 2004 in Shinjuku/Yotsuya as a gallery primarily dealing in photographic works.

While expanding the range of genres, in 2011 they added their sister gallery, Crossroads Gallery, and in January 2017 they moved from Shinjuku to the Nihonbashi Kodemmacho/Bakurocho area, focusing on photography.

We will be expanding the genres we handle and relaunching as a gallery that features works by a wide variety of artists.

We want this to be a place where you can experience the comfort of living surrounded by photographs and art 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and the joy of viewing, creating, and owning.

-What are your thoughts on the charm and characteristics of Nihonbashi Kodemmacho?

A gentle blend of history and newcomers. A charming town known only to those in the know.

- For those planning to visit, please tell us about any recommended points of interest in the area or shops (such as cultural experiences or community events).

This area is home to a concentration of galleries that handle a wide variety of genres. Many of them also offer bilingual services. Please come and visit!

- About the next exhibition

We are pleased to announce that we will be holding a special exhibition featuring the work of Go Narisawa.

After thinking about how to process the overwhelming amount of work by Go Narusawa,

We decided to bring together works from all of Go Narusawa's series to experience the charm of this author.

Apparently, all the series are currently being produced simultaneously.

(The following are words from Go Narisawa regarding the medley exhibition.)

If there's one thing I truly want to convey,

A series is born that I want to create and dedicate myself to with all my heart.

Regarding that matter, it was like that,

If that's the case, then like this.

Whether fortunate or unfortunate, I'm shy around strangers, yet things like that keep coming to me endlessly, like a spring of water.

Creating various things is a result of wanting to convey each one accurately.

It sounds like a joke, but it's a true story.

Kanako from Rooney always greets me with a sunny smile whenever I run into her in town.

The phrase "A gentle fusion of history and newcomer" perfectly captures Kanako's personality!

She knows so many hidden gems in Tokyo that you'd want to tell someone about, and it's so much fun talking to her because I keep adding more places I want to visit! I'm really looking forward to going to Looney, which has evolved even further after the gallery's renovation.

They always have wonderful exhibitions, so please do go and check it out sometime!

Thank you for your cooperation in this interview!
