On Saturday, August 8, 2026, in celebration of Digital Nomad Day—a day when digital nomads gather all around the globe—we hosted the “Digital Nomads Japan Meetup ∞ — Digital Nomad Day Special Edition” at S-Tokyo in Nihonbashi, Tokyo!

Additionally, S-Tokyo will be hosting "Glocal Thursdays in Tokyo" every Thursday from September through November. We are currently looking for co-hosts and collaboration partners to help bring these meetups to life! Scroll to the bottom of this article for details on how to apply.

About Digital Nomads Japan Meetup ∞ — Digital Nomad Day Special Edition

Co-hosted with ELENTO LLC, this special edition was a huge success from the morning coffee chat all the way through to the evening meetup!

Here is our full event report on an energetic day filled with new connections and collaborations formed between local community players from across Japan and international digital nomads.

Event Overview

• Date & Time: Saturday, August 8, 2026 | 9:30 AM – 9:00 PM

• Venue: S-Tokyo (Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo)

• Program: Morning Coffee Chat, Skill Share & Local Pitch, Night Meetup (Short Pitches)

Event Highlights

1. Morning: Coffee & Chat (9:30 AM – 11:00 AM)

Recharging energy for the weekend and kicking off new connections

Participants gathered early in the morning with various goals—some looking to kick off an active weekend, while others wanted a focused session to organize their tasks. Relaxed conversations naturally started flowing over fresh coffee.

We were joined by a software engineer from Ethiopia who was attending our meetup for the first time! After the session, he stayed on to work comfortably at S-Tokyo’s coworking space for the rest of the day. Seamlessly transitioning from a morning networking session into a productive workday is a signature experience at S-Tokyo.

2. Daytime: Local Pitch & Knowledge Sharing Session (11:30 AM – 6:00 PM)

7 regions from across Japan gather! Cross-regional networking & real insights from Bali

The daytime Local Pitch session drew community players from seven different regions across Japan! Beyond promoting local regions to digital nomads, this session proved to be immensely valuable as a space for local community players to learn from and connect with one another. Participants shared local initiatives and challenges, sparking lively discussions on potential cross-regional collaborations.

As a special guest session, Haren—who has served as a community manager for multiple coworking spaces in Bali, Indonesia—took the stage. He shared deep, authentic insights on hosting nomads and building community in Bali, a global hub for digital nomads. It was an extremely valuable learning experience for all the Japanese regional representatives in attendance.

3. Evening: Night Meetup & 3-Minute Short Pitches (7:00 PM – 9:00 PM)

40+ domestic and international attendees! A vibrant evening networking session

The finale of the day was our evening meetup. As a special Digital Nomad Day event, it drew over 40 attendees, evenly split between 20+ regional players from Japan and 20+ international nomads!

During the event, representatives from each region delivered 3-minute short pitches. These passionate presentations directly conveyed the charm, daily lifestyle, and stay environments of their respective regions to the digital nomads. Following the pitches, conversations over drinks continued late into the evening, crossing borders and cultures in a high-energy atmosphere.

Summary

Having hosted monthly meetups since February 2024, this Digital Nomad Day Special Edition proved to be an exceptionally meaningful occasion where nomads and local regions—as well as regions with other regions—intersected on multiple levels.

S-Tokyo will continue to serve as a hub for digital nomads visiting Tokyo, as well as a gateway connecting local Japan to the world. A sincere thank you to everyone who joined us!
