Q: Can you tell us about your company and business activities at "Maimai Tokyo"?

Maimai LLC operates small walking tours, with a maximum of 20 participants, based in Kyoto and Tokyo. Each tour is guided by specialists who introduce the city through their unique perspectives. At "Maimai Tokyo," we organize and run around 500 tours annually under the theme "Tokyo Mini Tours with Specialists."

Q: How do you utilize meeting rooms and gallery spaces for business purposes?

Since most of our members are contractors, much of our work is done remotely. However, after registering with S-TOKYO, we gained a shared space for meetings. Now, when members from our Kyoto branch visit Tokyo, we use the meeting rooms for discussions. We also conduct volunteer recruitment interviews here, which we initially did online, but we found in-person interviews to be more effective.

The gallery space on the second floor is perfect for hosting social events. For instance, we held a gathering with about 15 volunteers, where we combined a casual meeting with catered food. We like the relaxed atmosphere of the gallery—it’s different from the meeting room, which makes it ideal for team bonding.

Q: What are your thoughts on being located in Nihonbashi?

Being close to Tokyo Station makes this location very accessible. Since our tours operate around Tokyo, storing tour supplies in the lockers here has been very convenient. It’s more efficient than sending everything to individual staff members' homes. We also receive mail here, which simplifies logistics.

Additionally, the area of Kodenmacho has a rich history and interesting stories, and we look forward to building connections here. That’s one reason why we decided to base ourselves at S-TOKYO.

Q: Does the free-address (non-reserved seating) system pose any challenges?

At first, we were a bit concerned about the free-address setup, but it’s been working smoothly so far. For meetings or interviews, we use the designated meeting rooms.

In fact, the flexibility of non-reserved seating has been helpful. We can choose to sit near teammates during discussions or use the monitor-equipped desks when we need extra screens. This flexibility allows us to adapt to our daily tasks with ease.

Q: How does the S-TOKYO community benefit your business, and what potential do you see?

We previously participated in a talk event hosted by S-TOKYO called "Snack Glocal" (*1). We found it exciting to connect with regional communities without physically traveling to those areas.

We also heard that Linnas Design, the operator of S-TOKYO, has a base in Kanazawa. While it hasn’t happened yet, we hope to organize a tour in Kanazawa someday!

(*1) Snack Glocal: A unique event where local players from across Japan and the world are invited to engage in conversations. With local snacks and drinks in hand, participants enjoy an intimate, lively atmosphere akin to a traditional bar, creating stimulating yet comfortable experiences.

Comment from the Community Curator

This time, we had the pleasure of speaking with Mr. Ojima and Ms. Saito from Maimai Tokyo, one of our corporate members!

S-TOKYO is a coworking space where people seamlessly move between local and global environments, bridging Tokyo with the world. Maimai Tokyo embodies this spirit by sharing the hidden charms of Japan’s local communities, and we look forward to creating many opportunities for them to connect with digital nomads and regional players alike.

Our corporate plan offers flexible coworking at a minimal cost, thanks to the free-address system. For confidential meetings or receiving guests, members can book private meeting rooms. Plus, S-TOKYO is one of the few coworking spaces in Tokyo that offers 24-hour access, making it easy to align with your business needs while staying cost-effective.
