We will hold the S-TOKYO Kanazawa Week in Tokyo Nihonbashi Kobunacho in July 2023, following last year's event.During the period, we plan to have exhibitions of works by artists from Kanazawa and networking events.

Exhibition: Solo exhibition "Drawing Characters" by Calligrapher Yuji Doy

Period: July 25-28, 2023, 11:30-17:00

Is it a painting or letters? Calligraphic works expressing the rich imagery inherent in "characters" will be exhibited. Please take this opportunity to visit and reconsider the power of words and characters.

Yuji Doy

Born in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture. He majored in education and Japanese history at Kanazawa University. After graduating, he worked as a teacher at elementary and high schools.

After leaving the school scene, influenced by a friend who is a painter, he incorporated art as a form of self-expression and started his career as an artist with calligraphy as his roots.

There, he not only expresses meanings but also discovers possibilities beyond the concept of characters. Through the method of "drawing characters," he creates free, new works that draw between abstraction and representation, much like paintings.

At the venue, you can enjoy hand-rolled sushi using seafood from Ishikawa Prefecture. Furthermore, there is a lineup of local sake! For those who love Kanazawa, those interested in Ishikawa/Kanazawa, those who want to spend a pleasant time with delicious drinks, everyone is welcome. Please join us!
