Following the success of the NOMAD exhibition held in London in July 2025, British illustrator Molly Maine will be holding a solo exhibition in Japan this fall. The Tokyo venue will be S-TOKYO!
Molly was one of the digital nomads who joined the Coliving Program in Kanazawa last year, a project organized by Linnas Design. We are truly excited to experience, through her art, the way she sees Japan and the world, as well as her exploration of the evolving concept of “home.”
Everyone is warmly welcome to stop by ✨
NOMAD -Perspectives on Home in a Changing Japan-
Japan, facing a declining and ageing population, has introduced a digital nomad visa to attract remote workers, aiming to boost local economies and revitalise affected communities. At the same time, a new generation of Japanese people is choosing to live beyond their hometowns, moving to new cities or overseas, a significant change in a society where deep generational ties to place have long been the norm. For others, such as evacuees from the Noto earthquake, leaving home is not a choice but a necessity.
This exhibition contrasts the transient lives of digital nomads arriving in Japan with the deep-rooted traditions of a culture where the idea of “home” has historically been fixed and enduring. Through interviews with digital nomads, Noto earthquake evacuees, and members of local communities, Molly visually explores the shifting meaning of home in contemporary Japan.
As a digital nomad herself for nine years, the subject is a personal one for Molly. Alongside these Japan-focused works, the exhibition also features her travel illustrations from leading digital nomad destinations worldwide. All pieces are digitally illustrated and giclée printed as limited editions TOKYO EXHIBITION
